About Us...

Our purpose is to reach out for Christ, lead people to Christ and grow deeper in Christ.

What We Believe...

'Why are we here?'
A child’s favourite question  and one they never seem to tire asking is 'Why'. At one time or another everyone asks that question – more particularly:
'Why am I here?' ; 'Why am I special?' ;  'Am I special?'

The Bible tells us that all life has it’s starting point in God. God is the solid foundation, the absolute truth. He is the one who made all things by his power and this whole world depends on him for its continued existence – the seasons of the year, the air we breathe, even the positions of the stars and planets are held in place by God.

The greatest wonder is that this amazing mighty God cares for us.
1. We were created by God. Psalm 139:13-15.  The bible says we are 'wonderfully made'. Whatever we think of ourselves (self-esteem), God loves us deeply, calls us wonderful. God makes no mistakes / no 'accidents'  Psalm 139:15-16.

2. God loves us. 'For God so loved the world…'  'Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.  God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.'  Ephesians 1:4-5 (NLT)
'God decided to give us life through the word of truth so we might be the most important of all the things he made.'  James 1:18(NCV)

3. We were created for a purpose.
• To have a relationship with God. God used to walk and talk with Adam and Eve everyday in the garden Genesis 3:8.
'You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.'   St. Augustine

• To worship God Romans 1:20-25  'They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served created things rather than the Creator - who is for ever praised. Amen'. Romans 1:25 (NIV)

• To rule over and care for the world on God’s behalf  Genesis 1:28. 'All authority in heaven and on Earth has been given to me. Therefore GO..make disciples, baptise, teach..' Matthew 28:18-20
'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future'. Jeremiah 29:11(NIV)

4. Our Relationship with God has been spoiled by sin
• When Adam and Eve sinned, they lost their close relationship with God. Genesis 3. We have all been born in a world that has been distorted and spoiled by sin, and we have been born without a relationship to God, Romans 5:12.
'Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me'. Psalm 51:5

• We cannot just blame Adam and Eve for everyone has sinned. 'There is no one righteous, no not one…' Romans 3:10
'For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God' Romans 3:23
'But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear'  Isaiah 59:2
'If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us'  1John 1:8

5. Jesus Christ – God's answer to the problem of sin.
Equal with God (John 1:1) / Unique Birth / Fully God and fully man
John 3:16-17; 2 Corinthians 5:21

'God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.' 1 John 4:9-10(NLT)

'He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.'
1 Peter 2:24-25(NIV)

'For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile. This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith.'  Romans 1:16

6. Faith. We receive salvation, not by trying to be good. But by putting our whole trust in Jesus, and then living our whole lives in and for him.
'For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no-one can boast'  Ephesians 2:8-9(NIV)
We are saved by faith alone and not by any works that we can do: Church attendance, giving of offerings, baptism, taking communion, charity, good deeds – non of these things can save us. However the bible says that for those who are saved, these things are important;  we are saved so that we can performs works of service Ephesians 2:10.
Likewise we are told that faith without deeds is dead, because you prove your faith by what you do and the way you live James 2:17

7. The Holy Spirit. We believe in a Tri-une God; There is only one God, yet God has revealed himself to us in 3 distinct persons – God the Father, Jesus the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit, like Jesus is fully equal with God. The Holy Spirit lives within all those who have truly repented and received Christ as Lord and Saviour Romans 8:9. God gives the Holy Spirit to us, to guide, help and empower us to live for God and serve him. John 14:16, 26; John 16:6-11. Although every true Christian has the Holy Spirit, there is need for us to be continually filled with the Spirit to keep us close to God Ephesians 5:18. The Holy Spirit gives gifts to every believer to be used in building up the Church and proclaiming God’s Kingdom 1 Corinthians 12:7-11.

8. Bible. God’s Word. True and necessary for every Christian.  2 Timothy 3:16
John 20:31 'But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.'

Why Church? Why Dundrod?
'Why should I go to Church?
We have all had a 'bad church experience'.  We found it to be long, dull, boring, cold, unfriendly, old fashioned, awkward, didn’t know anyone or anything that was going on – perhaps all of those and even more!

5 reasons why we should go to Church (and be a part of one particular church):

1.  Follow Jesus' example – He went to his place of worship every week. Luke 4:16 (NCV) 'Jesus travelled to Nazareth, where he had grown up. On the Sabbath day he went to the synagogue, as he always did...'.
The early great early Christian leader Paul also went every week
(see Acts 17:2)

2.  Jesus loves the Church - Ephesians 5:25 'Christ loved the Church and gave himself up for her'.

3.  The Bible commands us.  Hebrews 10:25 (NCV) 'You should not stay away from the church meetings, as some are doing, but you should meet together and encourage each other. Do this even more as you see the day coming.'

4.  We need the Church.  We need each other as Christians, whether we are naturally sociable or prefer being on our own, God planned for us to grow together. 'God has arranged all the parts in the body (local church), every one of them, just as he wanted them to be… there are many parts, but one body… Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it'.  1 Corinthians 12:18-27

5. God meets with us in Church. God is everywhere and He can be worshipped anywhere, yet He promises to be with us in a special way, when we meet as a Church. 'For where 2 or 3 come together in my name, there am I with you'  Matthew 18:20

What does the Church do?
Jesus summarized Church and Christian life in 2 short statements which have become known as 'The Great Commandment' and 'The Great Commission'.
The Great Commandment - Mark 12:30-31
'Love the Lord with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength, and love your neighbour as yourself'.

The Great Commission - Matthew 28:19-20
'Go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you'.

We seek to be a warm, welcome, worshipping fellowship, which is Christ centred, led by the holy Spirit, living out God's word, open and loving to all, transforming lives and communities for Christ.

Growing Deeper
in Christ
Worship – seeking to love Him with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength. This is why we meet together for weekly worship, but our love of God should colour everything we do, every day of the week.

Discipleship – being taught to obey everything that Christ has commanded us in his Word. In our Church, listening to God’s word as it is read and hearing it explained to us (sermon), is a central part of why we meet together. We also continue to learn in Childrens and adult Sunday school, church midweek and home groups.

Growing together as God’s family.  Acts 2:41-47 speaks of new believers in Jesus being baptised into the church family and sharing and growing together in fellowship.

Relationships are important in the Church family, and this is an area we are seeking to develop through church lunches and picnics and other social events together.

Leading People
to Christ
Go and make disciples of all Nations. The word 'nations' really means all different ethnic or even social groups. As a Church, our Mission is to make Jesus known here in Dundrod and throughout the world. As well as our support of missionaries and mission agencies, we have just begun a link with Mkombezi Village in Northern Malawi and hope to visit with them in the near future.

Reaching out
for Christ
'Love your neighbour as yourself'.  The command to love your neighbour of course applies to our fellow church members, but Jesus meant that we were to practically show love to those who are different from us, those who are outside the Church, and those who do not know God and his love.

Reaching out for Christ also means 'Serving' through the various ministries and organisations of our church. Every Christian has a part to play.  God has given all of us gifts to be used to serve in the local church.
